The Hair Transplant Journey at IRM: What to Expect Before, During, and After
A Hair Transplant is a Life-Changing Journey
The decision to reclaim your hairline is a significant one, and it’s natural to be filled with questions, excitement, and a little apprehension.
Modern hair restoration, when performed by a true expert, is an art form that delivers results so natural, they are virtually undetectable.
At IRM Aesthetics, this journey is a partnership. Here is a clear, step-by-step guide to what you can expect.
Part 1: BEFORE the Procedure
The Consultation & Planning
1. The Expert Consultation
Your journey begins with a one-on-one, confidential consultation with our hair restoration specialist. This is not a sales pitch; it’s a medical assessment. We will:
2. Designing Your New Hairline
This is where medical science meets artistry. Dr. Gilani will work with you to design a new hairline that is:
3. The Pre-Operative Plan
Once you are booked, our team will give you a clear set of instructions to follow in the days leading up to your procedure, such as which medications to avoid and how to prepare.
Part 2: DURING the Procedure
The Day of Your Transplant
Step 1: Preparation and Anesthesia
The donor area at the back of your head will be trimmed. Then, we will administer local anesthesia to both the donor and recipient areas. You will be fully awake and comfortable, but you will not feel any pain.
Step 2: The Extraction (FUE Technique)
IRM Aesthetics specializes in the most advanced FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) technique.
Step 3: Graft Preparation
While the extraction is happening, our highly-skilled technicians immediately begin preparing and preserving the harvested follicles under high-powered microscopes.
Step 4: The Implantation
This is the final, artistic phase. The expert team will skillfully place each individual follicle into the recipient area, paying close attention to the angle, direction, and density of each hair to create a 100% natural result.
Part 3: AFTER the Procedure
The Recovery & Results
The First Week: Healing
You will be given detailed aftercare instructions and medication. We will schedule your first hair wash at our clinic, where we will gently clean the area and show you how to do it safely at home. You will see tiny scabs on the transplanted area; this is normal and a sign of healing.
Weeks 2-6: The “Shedding Phase”
The small, transplanted hairs will fall out.
THIS IS COMPLETELY NORMAL. (DON’T PANIC!)It’s called “shock loss.” The new follicle is safely rooted under your skin, simply shedding the old hair shaft to make way for a new, strong, permanent hair.
Month 3-6: The New Growth
You will begin to see new, fine hairs sprouting. They will be thin at first, but this is the start of your new hairline. Many patients support this phase with PRP treatments to accelerate healing and boost this new growth.
Month 9-12+: The Final Result
This is when the magic is fully visible. The new hairs will have matured, thickened, and grown to a stylable length. The final density and texture will be apparent, and you will be able to see the full, permanent result of your journey.
